If I pay monthly how will my rent be calculated?

We charge rent for 48 weeks of the year. There are 4 weeks where you don’t pay rent.

To get your monthly rent, we:

  1. Multiply your weekly rent by 48.
  2. Divide that number by 12 (for 12 months).

Example:

  • If your rent is £100 a week:
  • £100 × 48 = £4,800 a year
  • £4,800 ÷ 12 = £400 a month

If you owe any money (arrears), we add that to your first few payments.

Why Rent Might Change Some Years

There are 365 days in a year, which doesn’t divide evenly into weeks. So every 5 or 6 years, there are 53 weeks in the rent year.

When that happens, we:

  • Multiply your weekly rent by 49 weeks instead of 48.
  • Then divide by 12 to get your monthly rent.

This started from April 2024.

We add rent and service charges to your account every week, so your balance changes each week.
