Voting gives you the opportunity to select a candidate that you feel would be best to represent your local electoral area. The elected member will negotiate important matters and voice opinions of residents that will help to make important decisions to improve their elected area and subsequently the lives of residents like you.
We want to promote voting and democracy to residents of all ages within Tendring, this year we are focusing on children and teenagers. We are aiming to increase the number of people who are registered to vote and the number of voters at each election which will help to better voice opinions of everyone in our area.
To register to vote, you must be aged 16 or over (but you can’t vote until you’re 18 years old**), and one of the following:
**The Labour Government have proposed changes to lower the voting age to 16 years old (previously 18 years old) which will also impact the age in which people can register to vote.
