About Citizen Access

What is Citizen Access?

Citizen Access is Tendring District Council's self-service portal to manage Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR/Business Rates). It can provide you with a live view of your account and personal information, enabling you to make changes and complete tasks at a time that works for you.

How do I access Citizen Access?

You can use our Citizen Access - How to get set up guide or go straight to MyTendring to begin the process.

What can I do on Citizen Access?

Citizen Access is separated into different sections, each allowing you to manage different aspects:

Council Tax

  • View your Council Tax details online
  • Access your Council Tax bills and sign up for e-billing
  • Sign up or amend Direct Debits
  • Report a change of address
  • Search for a Council Tax band

National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR/Business Rates)

  • View your up-to-date account information
  • Check your balance, payments and bills
  • Switch to paperless billing
  • Update your contact details
  • Search for a Business Rates Rateable value

Do I need Citizen Access?

As Citizen Access is a self-serve portal you do not have to use it. You can continue to interact with the services as you always have.

This enables residents who want to use it to manage their account as much as possible at a time that works for them.

Do I require a MyTendring account?

If you would like all the benefits from Citizen Access you will require a MyTendring account first to sign up. The system is designed so you only have to login once with MyTendring and it will then take you through to Citizen Access.

If you not do wish to login to Citizen Access and use more limited features you will not require a MyTendring account.

Is Citizen Access secure?

Both Citizen Access and MyTendring meet all required security and GDPR requirements that are requested by the Government and continue to develop to ensure maintain these standards.
