Voters reminded to have their say on polling stations in Tendring

Voters are being reminded to have their say on where they go to cast their ballot in Tendring.

This reminder is accompanying an extension of this phase of consultation by a week to 30 August 2024.

Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Electoral Services team has already begun the first phase of its complete Polling Places Review.

Held every five years, the complete review takes a broad look at polling places – designated areas within which a polling station must be placed to ensure equal access to voting. At present there are 78 different neighbourhoods or parishes across the Tendring District Council area each with their own Polling Place.

In this extended first phase of the review, people are being asked if there are any major issues that should be considered – such as addressing where access to a Polling Place means crossing a major road – while a second phase later in the year will look at the 78 Polling Places in more detail.

Ian Davidson, TDC Chief Executive, encouraged people to have their say before the first phase consultation closes.  With the extension to this phase the deadline is Friday, 30 August 2024.

“People turn out in large numbers to cast their ballot in a polling station on polling day,” he said.

“It is an incredibly important matter to ensure everyone who has the right to is able to vote.

“It is therefore right that we regularly review our Polling Places and I’d like to remind people to have their say over where they should be as part of this review.”

To have your say, complete the survey on the TDC website at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/content/polling-arrangements-review or write to Electoral Services, Tendring District Council, Town Hall, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, CO15 1SE.
