Voters in Tendring District Council’s (TDC) The Bentleys and Frating ward are heading to the polls this week for a by-election.
The poll for the vacant seat will take place on Thursday, 6 February, between 7am and 10pm.
The candidates for the election of a district councillor for the ward are: Aimee Louise Keteca (ReformUK - Changing Politics for Good), Oli Mupenda (Labour Party), Rachael Richards (Liberal Democrats, Neil Robin Stock (Conservative Party Candidate).
Returning Officer Ian Davidson urged people in the ward to use their vote – and to remember to take their photo ID if voting in person at a polling station.
Mr Davidson said: "I would like to urge all eligible voters in the ward to make their voices heard in choosing their new district councillor.
“We always encourage participation in elections, so take the time to visit the polling station this Thursday and decide who will represent you on Tendring District Council.
“I would also like to remind voters that they must now bring an accepted form of photo ID to vote."
The forms of photo ID that are accepted include a UK passport or driving licence, a Blue Badge, older or disabled person’s bus pass, PASS card or Defence Identity Card – but you can see the full list at https://www.tendringdc.gov.uk/content/voter-id.
The deadline for those wishing to register to vote has now passed.
