A series of special pantomime performances have been lined up at Clacton’s Princes Theatre … including an adults-only show for those who are feeling naughty this festive season!
The Tendring District Council-run (TDC) theatre is set to welcome a spell-binding production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 7 to 29 December.
The groundbreaking panto experience promises a visual spectacle like no other, with the audience being handed 3D glasses for special sections of the standard show.
But there will be a series of special performances for pantomime fans to enjoy, including a saucier adults-only version packed with innuendo on Saturday, 28 December, at 8pm.
Gary Scott, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, said: “For the first time at the Princes Theatre, and for one night only, we’re inviting all the older boys and girls to indulge in an unforgettable evening of laughter, innuendos, and risqué humour with a special adults-only performance which uses all the amazing scenery, costumes and professional cast as the standard panto run.
“This mischievous adaptation of Snow White pushes the boundaries, adding a saucy twist to the traditional story you know so well.
“It promises to be a raucous and entertaining experience as our talented cast allow their characters to let their hair down and embrace their cheekier side.
“We’re also very pleased to be able to once again put on a relaxed performance, where the audience is invited to feel more comfortable knowing there is an inclusive and accepting atmosphere.”
The special relaxed performance of the pantomime will take place on Thursday, 19 December, at 6pm.
The relaxed version contains no complete darkness, loud noises, flashing lights or pyrotechnic effects and there is flexibility for audience members to move around for those that may find the full production overwhelming.
A British Sign Language (BSL) performance will take place on Sunday, 15 December, at 3.30pm.
Alongside the special shows, there will also be a preview performance on Saturday, 7 December, with all tickets priced at just £15.
The pantomime adaptation of the Brothers Grimm classic tale features evil stepmothers, poisoned apples and tales of treachery – and loyalty – as the beautiful Snow White and her seven friends from the enchanted forest attempt to defeat the evil Wicked Queen.
The title role is played by Ellis Lloyd, a graduate of The Urdang Academy, who has a background in professional dance and musical theatre, while Clacton’s very own Danny Lee Grew, an acclaimed magician, returns to his hometown in the role of Muddles.
There will also be a special guest appearance via pre-recorded video by CBBC’s Hacker T. Dog as the Magic Mirror.
Tickets for the show, which is being staged by new provider Shone Productions, are available now from the Princes Theatre website at www.princestheatre.co.uk or by calling the Box Office at 01255 686633 (Option 1).
