Tendring leisure centre users can now manage their bookings and membership using a smartphone app.

The new system means people can book classes and courts from their phone, receive reminders of upcoming reservations, and access their membership card on their phone – using it to enter the centres.

Meanwhile parents can track their child’s progress on swimming courses, move between stages and classes, and buy new or additional lessons and holiday activities.

The app is available for members – including pay-as-you-go customers – of Tendring Leisure, which runs Clacton Leisure Centre, Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles and Walton-on-the-Naze Lifestyles.

Mick Barry, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Open Spaces at Tendring District Council, which runs the centres, said the app would make access smoother for customers.

“This new app allows customers to book activities from the palm of their hand, while the digital membership card gets people through the turnstiles quickly at our three centres – which all reduces queues at reception and means people can get on with their work-out, game or relaxation,” Councillor Barry said.

“As you might expect there are also efficiencies achieved behind the scenes, freeing up our staff to better support customers in the centres too.

“But rest assured people can still book activities just by turning up or through our website too, and I’d like to thank customers for their patience as the new system was installed.”

For pay-as-you-go members, you are now able to book in advance for the pool, gym and wellbeing zone along with our fitness classes and racquet sports which also guarantees your space; you can book up to seven days in advance for pay as you go customers.

Our prepaid customers can access the centres via the turnstile entry as normal and only need to pre-book spaces for fitness classes and racquet sports. Prepaid members have 10 days advance booking.
