West End smash-hit Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is set to make a spectacular return to Clacton’s Princes Theatre next month.
For the first time ever, the Princes Theatre Youth Company and the Princes Acting Centre will be joining forces to put on the popular musical at the Tendring District Council-run (TDC) theatre from April 24 to 27.
The multi award-winning show from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway, international tours in over 80 countries worldwide.
It has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals, featuring much-loved classics such as Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door, There’s One More Angel in Heaven and Go, Go, Go Joseph.
Councillor Gary Scott, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, urged local people to support the area’s incredible young actors by coming to see the show.
“We’re exceptionally proud of the Princes Theatre Youth Company and Princes Acting Centre and this production promises to be really spectacular,” he said.
“It’s been ten years since Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was last put on at the Princes Theatre, so I’m very excited to see it back on stage in Clacton.
“I’d encourage everyone to see the show and support out talented youngsters – they can’t wait to put on what is set to be a sensational production.”
The Princes Acting Centre is also gearing up to put on Beautiful Thing, a poignant 1993 British play set in a South London council estate, from June 17 to 19, while the Princes Theatre Youth Company bring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to life next year.
Looking ahead to January 2026, the acting centre has also secured the license for Come From Away, a moving musical about the events of September 11, 2001.
The Princes Youth Theatre is a vibrant, inclusive space for young people to explore their creative potential through performing arts.
The theatre provides classes and workshops as part of its aim to cultivate local talent and fostering a love for the arts.
