Leading councillors joined community groups and local firms to litter-pick across Tendring as part of the 10th Great British Spring Clean.
People across the district pledged to pick up one bag of litter - or more – during the Keep Britain Tidy initiative, which ran from 21 March to 6 April.
Tendring District Council (TDC) provided equipment and rubbish collection services for a number of groups taking part while councillors also rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in.
During the fortnight of the initiative, Adrian Smith, Cabinet Member for Environment, joined litter picking sessions with the Walton Wallys and Frinton Frombles.
Councillor Smith and Councillor Gina Placey, Cabinet Member for Partnerships, also teamed up with workers from KFC at Brook Retail Park to litter pick in Clacton on 1 April, collecting more than ten bags of rubbish.
“I’m delighted that many local businesses, groups, and residents have participated in this brilliant initiative,” said Councillor Smith.
“It is truly unfortunate that rubbish is left on our stunning beaches and in our countryside - and I urge everyone to dispose of their waste responsibly.
“However, I am incredibly proud of the community spirit demonstrated by our residents during the 10th Great British Spring Clean.
“There is a profound sense of pride that comes from working together to remove rubbish from our beautiful district, which boasts Blue Flag beaches and Green Flag parks - vital habitats for wildlife and cherished spaces for all of us to enjoy.
“The council was pleased to support numerous initiatives across Tendring by providing equipment and rubbish collection services.
“Championing our environment and encouraging people to take pride in where they live is at the heart of everything we do, making our district a more enjoyable place to live.”
Councillor Placey added that TDC looks forward to continuing its support for such initiatives and thanked everyone who contributed to making Tendring a cleaner, greener place.
“Working with partners, including local community groups and businesses to improve quality of life is an important part of Our Vision for the district,” she said.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every single volunteer for their efforts in keeping Tendring clean.”
