Applicant - The applicant is the only person who can make an appeal against a decision or a condition imposed on a decision. They should appeal directly to The Planning Inspectorate(link is external). Details of how to make an appeal are included in decision notices issued by the Council.

Received an Enforcement Notice? Those who have been served an enforcement notice may also appeal. Details of how to make an appeal are included in enforcement notices issued by the Council.
Third Parties - Third parties (e.g. neighbours) are not allowed to make an appeal against a planning decision. However, if your home is likely to be directly affected by a development that is subject to an appeal then the Council will write to you advising how you may make your concerns known directly to the Planning Inspectorate.
Planning Appeals - Within 6months of the decision date (or 12 weeks if a householder application or minorcommercial application).
Advertisement Consent - Within 8 weeks of the date of the decision.
Listed Building and Conservation Area Consent Appeals - Within 6 monthsof the decision.
Tree Preservation Appeals - Within 2 months of the decision date.
Enforcement Notice Appeals - Within 28 days ofreceipt of the notice or by the date the Enforcement Notice takes effect.
All representations made to us at the planning application stage will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate and the appellant at the start of the appeal process. These will be considered by the Inspector when determining the appeal.
If you wish to make comments on a current appeal you must do so by the deadline provided by the Planning Inspectorate. You can also modify/withdraw your previous representation.
You can submit comments online at https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk. If you do not have access to the internet, you can send three copies to the case officer at The Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
From 1 April 2024 the Planning Inspectorate no longer accept interested party comments sent via email. Any comments submitted by email will not be considered and will be returned. Comments from interested parties on appeals will only be accepted through the Appeal Casework Portal or via letter to Temple Quay House, as detailed above.
