General Election 4 July 2024

There will be a General Election on Thursday 4 July 2024.

A General Election is when Members of Parliament are elected for all the constituencies across the UK.  Residents in the District of Tendring are in one of two geographical constituencies – Clacton, or Harwich and North Essex.  The Clacton constituency is wholly within the District of Tendring and the constituency of Harwich and North Essex extends beyond Tendring into the administrative area of Colchester City Council.

The Acting Returning Officer for both constituencies is Ian Davidson, who is the Chief Executive of Tendring District Council.

Constituency boundary changes

The area of the two constituencies has changed since the last general election in 2019. As such, some electors who were previously in the Harwich and North Essex will now find that their homes are now in the Clacton constituency.

This is not a Council decision, it follows a review by the Boundary Commission for England.

You can check which constituency you are in by visiting the Ordnance Survey Election Maps website (https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/election-maps/gb/) and selecting ‘Future Westminster Constituencies’ in the boundaries section.
