The Council is actively involved with the following Countryside and Coastal Management Projects:
The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty projects, which are financed and administered by joint advisory committees comprising local authorities, the Countryside Agency and other partners, aim to work with landowners to enhance the landscape, protect wildlife habitats and develop sensitive recreational opportunities. Management Strategies exist for all project areas and more details are available from the Council or the project officers concerned.
The undeveloped coastline of the District is also recognised as a most important local and national asset. The Council has been actively involved in preparing Estuary Management Plans for the Stour and Orwell and the Colne. The Colne Estuary Strategy has been published and copies can be viewed on their website.
