Adapting your Home

🏠 Making Your Home Easier to Live In

Sometimes, small changes can help people stay safe and live on their own at home. These changes are called adaptations.

We might be able to help with things like:

  • Putting up handrails or grab rails
  • Adding stair lifts (if needed)
  • Building ramps
  • Removing small steps at doorways
  • Installing showers with no step

👩‍⚕️ Who to talk to

If you or someone in your home needs help like this, call Essex County Council Social Services at
📞 0345 603 7630
Ask to speak to an Occupational Therapist.

They will talk to you and may visit your home to see what changes are needed. If they agree, they will tell us, and we’ll check if you can get help.

Waiting times depend on:

  • What work is needed
  • How many people are waiting
  • How much money is available

🛠 Small changes

For small things like:

  • Grab rails
  • Easy-turn taps
