Have your say on council priorities for the coming year

A consultation is underway on draft highlight priorities for Tendring District Council (TDC) for 2024/25; an exciting programme set against a challenging time for local government.

In November TDC adopted a new Corporate Plan for the years 2024-2028 – called Our Vision – and has set out actions for the first year to deliver against the plan.

Suggested highlight priorities include delivery of the Clacton Airshow and re-introducing the Tour de Tendring; completing an enhanced CCTV project and looking at measures to tackle nuisance vehicles; implementing Climate Change Action Plan measures and enhancing capacity to be tough on littering and fly-tipping; revising the council’s Housing strategy; and delivering projects such as the major long-term sustainable projects in Dovercourt and Clacton around town centres.

Mark Stephenson, TDC Leader, said the highlight priorities would focus the authority’s work over the next year.

“Our Vision gives us our strategic direction, which was formed with a wide consultation, and these priorities – which are born out of the Corporate Plan – help us to deliver against it,” Councillor Stephenson said.

“We have set out our suggested priorities, which include a mixture of some specific projects and also some wider work which is needed to build upon to deliver in years two, three and four of Our Vision.

“We are really keen to hear people’s views on the priorities – not least because we are committed in Our Vision to openness – so please take the time to review them and give us your thoughts. Only by doing so can we truly deliver for our district.”

The consultation runs until Sunday, 11 February.
