Draft priorities for Tendring District Council (TDC) for 2024-25 have been outlined by Cabinet.

Following the council adopting its new Corporate Plan for the years 2024-2028, Our Vision, work has been swiftly underway to identify specific projects and priorities to take forward in the first year of that plan.

These were considered by TDC’s Cabinet today (Friday, 15 December) and will now undergo consultation – including by councillors on scrutiny committees – before being finalised and adopted.

Priorities include delivery of the Clacton Airshow and re-introducing the Tour de Tendring; completing an enhanced CCTV project and looking at measures to tackle nuisance vehicles; implementing Climate Change Action Plan measures and enhancing capacity to be tough on littering and fly-tipping; revising the council’s Housing strategy; and delivering projects such as the major long-term sustainable projects in Dovercourt and Clacton around town centres.

They have been selected to support various parts of the council’s new Corporate Plan for 2024-28, Our Vision.

Mark Stephenson, TDC Leader, said the priorities, once adopted, would help to focus the council’s work for the coming year; including with important partners locally.

“Having set our strategic direction through Our Vision – shaped by an extensive public consultation – we now need to drill down and look at the specific steps we need to take to deliver against this,” Councillor Stephenson said.

“The first year will necessarily involve some broader work, such as revising or developing strategies; but we also have some specifics in there including the Clacton Airshow and the Tour de Tendring.

“The priorities will sit alongside taking forward several multi-million pound schemes to revitalise parts of the district. I look forward to listening to the feedback on these draft priorities so we can really hone them and make sure we are delivering to improve the lives of our residents.”
