Tendring has said a big thank you to the district’s emergency service heroes.

Emergency Services Day, also known as 999 Day, was marked by the hoisting of a special flag at Clacton Town Hall on Monday, 9 September.

‘999 Day’ recognises the contribution made by the emergency services, including the police, fire, ambulance and HM Coastguard.

It also recognises the work done by volunteer responders, such as St John Ambulance, Coastguard volunteers, RNLI volunteers, ambulance First Responders and Special Constables.

Tendring District Council Chairman Dan Casey thanked the emergency services for everything they do to keep residents safe.

“Our emergency services are real heroes – they’re often invisible to us, but always step up in our hour of need,” said Councillor Casey.

“Flying the Emergency Services Day flag is how we show our recognition and thanks to them for all that they do.”

The flag shows Emergency Services Day and the event crest on the top half on a white background, and the lower half is the Union flag; it has been designed to line up with the Armed Forces Day flag to make a complete Union flag.
