Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Armed Forces Champion has backed a Veterans’ and Services’ Day event taking place in Clacton next month.

Being held on the Marine Parade West greensward the event, organised by the Clacton Veterans’ Breakfast Club chairman and secretary, will see stands from a number of organisations supporting armed forces and emergency services.

This includes a simulator from the Clacton Model Makers Club, and a re-enactor from the Falkland Liberation Group, as well as classic cars and military vehicles.

Taking place on Sunday, 6 August, from 11am until 5pm, money raised from the event will support veterans’ groups, while individual charities will also be fundraising at the event.

Dan Casey, TDC’s Armed Forces Champion, encouraged people to go along and support the event.

“This is shaping up to be a brilliant event, lots of fun but also in support of some important causes,” said Cllr Casey, who is also TDC’s Vice-Chairman.

“As signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, and holding a Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, we appreciate and want to celebrate the contribution veterans – as well as our hard-working emergency services partners – make to our community, which is why we are supporting this event.

“So I’d urge you to go along and support this brilliant day.”
