Clacton Town Hall to glow to support road safety awareness

Clacton Town Hall will be illuminated in purple, yellow and blue this week (30 October to 3 November) to raise awareness of Glo Week 2023.

Introduced by the Child Brain Injury Trust in 2018, Glo Week is held annually to highlight the autumn road safety awareness campaign Be Seen Not Hurt, to reduce the risk of road accidents during winter months.

The charity encourages conversations with children or young persons about road safety and why it is important to wear bright clothing or reflective gear when on or near roads - especially in the dark.

Cllr Mark Stephenson, Leader of Tendring District Council, hoped this would spark valuable conversations for residents young and old.

“We are delighted to raise awareness of this campaign and the simple steps our residents can take to improve their safety in the district when out and about,” Councillor Stephenson said.

“As our daylight hours reduce, pedestrians and drivers must be more mindful of their surroundings and take greater care on the roads.”

Be seen, Not Hurt road safety videos for children and adults are available to watch on The Child Brain Injury Trust website, with information about why our brains are so amazing and how to protect them.
