Ten candidates have been nominated to contest a vacant seat in the Bluehouse ward of Tendring District Council (TDC).

Details of the ten candidates have been published in the Statement of Persons Nominated, and can be found on the council’s website at www.tendringdc.uk/content/bluehouse-by-election-11-january-2024.

The seat is vacant following the resignation of Ian Lennard and a poll will be held on Thursday 11 January between 7am and 10pm.

Voters in the ward will receive their poll card soon detailing their polling station.

People not already on the electoral register have until 21 December to do so if they wish to cast a ballot at the by-election. The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on 22 December, and for proxy votes 5pm on 3 January 2024.

Voters are also reminded that they will require a prescribed form for photo ID to vote in person; and the deadline for people to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (a form of ID accepted for this) is also 5pm on 3 January 2024.
