Call to share community Coronation events

Organisers of community events across district to mark the King’s Coronation are being encouraged to share details through LoveTendring.

King Charles III’s coronation takes place on Saturday, 6 May, with a weekend of celebrations being planned across the nation.

Those planning events in Tendring can share details of community activities through the What’s On section on Tendring District Council’s (TDC) website; with events then appearing in the free to download LoveTendring app.

To help event organisers TDC has also published guidance on its website, covering topics such as road closures and street parties, and how to apply to hold events on council land.

In addition, £200 per councillor has been allocated to be used to support community coronation events nominated by them.

Peter Harris, TDC Chairman, urged people to share details of their community event.

“I was amazed at how energetically our communities celebrated the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year, and also our sombre and respectful mourning of her death,” Councillor Harris said.

“Now we have the opportunity to celebrate again as our new sovereign is crowned, and the monarch has asked that we particularly come together on Sunday, 7 May for the Community Big Lunch; and recognise the contribution made by volunteers on the national bank holiday on Monday, 8 May.

“I am sure some wonderful events are being planned, and we would love to hear details of them – while our advice for organisers is not to be missed.”
