This role is pivotal in coordinating service and project governance within the Sport and Leisure Department. The successful candidate will lead key cross-cutting projects, including those aligned with the Council’s Climate Change agenda and other corporate priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage key Council projects within the Sport and Leisure Service, including leisure centre refurbishments, small building projects, and service contracts.
• Provide advice and guidance on governance arrangements and ensure a consistent approach to procurement and contract delivery.
• Prepare and present reports to Council, Cabinet, Committees, and Management Team.
• Support the Head of Sport & Leisure on cross-cutting agendas, including working towards carbon neutrality.
• Plan, procure, implement, and deliver projects, tracking progress and ensuring milestones are met.
• Draft and manage project contracts, ensuring compliance with Council’s standard terms and conditions.
• Provide leadership and management to project teams, including external stakeholders and temporary work groups.
Person Specification:
• Level 6/7 qualification in Corporate Governance, Public Services, or Management, or advanced Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Chartered status or higher-level membership of a relevant professional body.
• Experience in a senior role within a complex and diverse organisation.
• Strong budget management skills and proficiency in MS-Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent decision-making, persuasion, communication, and project management skills.
