Location: Office within the Tendring District, (Part Remote Working where possible).
Are you an Environmental Health Practitioner or a Project Manager with experience of working in the Health profession that is looking for a new challenge or the chance to develop your career within a unique and truly varied role within local government?
Tendring District Council are looking to recruit a new Environmental Health Practitioner or experienced Health professional to deliver the Council’s ambition for improvement in Jaywick Sands. The Council has been awarded funding from the NHS to support a dedicated Healthy Homes Team for Jaywick Sands. This is an exciting project looking to improve the housing conditions for those who privately rent in Jaywick Sands, Essex. The project will also work more widely in the community to improve the appearance of the neighbourhood, and look to work closely with health partners, The North East Essex Health Alliance (NEEHA). By doing so we will be able reach more residents and deliver better health outcomes for those that interact with the team.
Please note that this is a fixed term contract / secondment opportunity for a period of 3 years.
To lead a team of Environmental Health professionals working on a Healthy Homes initiative in Jaywick Sands. The Healthy Homes initiative aims to improve the housing conditions for those living in privately rented accommodation in Jaywick Sands, whilst working alongside partners in the health profession to improve the general health and well being of those who live in Jaywick Sands. By working more collaboratively we aim to reduce pressure on local health services, the NHS, and make a positive impact for those we assist.
We are seeking to recruit a confident, highly motivated team Manager to deliver the Council’s ambition for improvement.
Based predominantly in Jaywick Sands the role will be focussed on making a positive change for residents and the wider neighbourhood and community and you will need to build a good rapport with residents and landlords alike, using the full suite of enforcement powers available if necessary to bring about the change that is needed. Engagement with our colleagues in the health alliance is essential to ensure we meet the wider determinants of health and wellbeing. There is an additional requirement to liaise with internal Council services including the newly introduced Project Delivery Unit.
The work will be challenging but rewarding as we seek to change the culture associated with the quality of rented housing and other aspects associated with the appearance of the neighbourhood.
