Tendring District Council are looking to recruit an Environmental Health Officer/Practitioner to deliver the Council’s ambition for improvement in Jaywick Sands. The Council has been awarded funding from the NHS to support a dedicated Healthy Homes Team for Jaywick Sands. This is an exciting project looking to improve the housing conditions for those who privately rent in Jaywick Sands, Essex. The project will also work more widely in the community to improve the appearance of the neighbourhood, and look to work closely with health partners The North East Essex Health Alliance (NEEHA). By doing so we will be able reach more residents and deliver better health outcomes for those that interact with the team.
Please note that this is a fixed term contract / secondment opportunity for a period of 3 Years.
To work as part of a team of Environmental Health professionals working on a Healthy Homes initiative in Jaywick Sands. The Healthy Homes initiative aims to improve the housing conditions for those living in privately rented accommodation in Jaywick Sands.
Jaywick Sands faces many challenges having consistently been one of the most deprived areas in the country. The area is defined by housing originally built as holiday chalets in the 1920s that remain in use today, many as privately rented accommodation.
We are seeking to recruit a confident, highly motivated Environmental Health professional to deliver the Council’s ambition for improvement in the area.
Based at our offices in Jaywick Sands you will need to build a good rapport with residents and landlords alike, using the full suite of enforcement powers available if necessary to bring about the change that is needed.
The role will be focussed on making a positive change for residents and the wider neighbourhood and community. Engagement with our colleagues in the health alliance is essential to ensure we meet the wider determinants of health and wellbeing. There is an additional requirement to liaise with internal Council services including the newly introduced Project Delivery Unit.
