End Date:

Everything you need to know

Essex County Council (ECC) is launching a six-week consultation on the new draft Essex Air Quality Strategy on behalf of the Essex Air Quality Consortium, which is formed of all 12 district, borough and city councils in Essex, as well as the two unitary councils, Southend-on-Sea City Council and Thurrock Council, and Essex County Council.

The joint strategy, which has been developed in partnership with all of the councils, sets out how the consortium is looking to improve air quality across Essex.

It is also supported by various public sector organisations, including local NHS trusts, Essex Police and the Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

The strategy outlines actions the Essex Air Quality Consortium plans to take to improve air quality in Essex and help reduce the impact of air pollution on people’s health.

The public are now being encouraged to share their feedback on the draft strategy as part of a consultation, which will launch on Monday 20 January 2025 and run for six weeks, closing on Sunday 2 March 2025.

The best way for people to have their say is by completing our online consultation survey. This can be accessed via the Essex Air website at: www.essexair.org.uk/strategy or directly at: https://consultations.essex.gov.uk/essex-highways/essex-air-quality-strategy

The draft Essex Air Quality Strategy can be viewed or downloaded from the Essex Air website, while printed copies are available upon request or from the libraries listed on the next page of this communications toolkit.

Printed surveys can be completed and returned for free (no stamp required) to the following address: FREEPOST ESSEX HIGHWAYS ENGAGEMENT TEAM

They can also be returned by email to: strategy@essexair.org.uk
