Martello Bay is located approximately one mile from towncentre and is adjacent to Hastings Avenue Car Park.
The town is served by mainline railway connections to Londonand Ipswich and road connections from the north (Ipswich and Colchester) viaA12, A120 and A133 – CO15 1BN.
The local train station (Clacton-On-Sea) is a 28-minute walkfrom this award beach.
The nearest bus stop is located on Marine Parade West. Thepost code for this is CO15 1NW. It is a 5-minute walk to the award beach.
There is coach parking available in Martello Coach & CarPark.
There are several taxi firms operating in the area shouldyou need them.
The award beach is served by three car parks:
Hastings Beach, Hastings Avenue, Clacton-on-Sea – This is located directly off the award beach and next to the Martello Tower.
Hastings Grass, Clacton-on-Sea – This is located behind the RNLI lifeboat station.
Martello Coach and Car Park, Clacton-on-Sea– This is located between the RNLI lifeboat station and the Toby Carvery.
There are no set car parking spaces in the Hastings car parks. Blue Badge holders may park for 3 hours free of charge providing clock is set to arrival time and badge is displayed with expiry date and wheelchair symbol facing outwards.
Martello Coach and Car Park has 48 car park spaces and 14coach parking spaces.
Access to Martello Bay award beach for all users is by a slope that leads onto beach. There is easy access along the promenade to the beach also via steps.
To access from the road we have access via a slope on Selsey Avenue. Additionally, access is by the pavement next to Clacton lifeboat station and steps from the car park in Hastings Road.
The promenade consists of a hard paved surface extending the length of the awards beach.
Vehicular access is only available onto the promenade between 6pm and 10am.
There are a mixture of slopes and stairs leading from the promenade to the beach.
The Beach Patrol Office is located on the award beach in line with Martello Tower.
The local Coastguard station and RNLI station is located just inland of the award beach.
On the promenade dogs must be kept on leads and under control.
The award beach is located between Selsey Avenue and the Greensward Café.
First aid is available from the lifeguards when operating. They operate from May Half Term to the end of the summer school holidays, during school holidays and weekends. The hours are 10:30am and 5:30pm.
This award beach is a designated dog free zone area from May to September. This is clearly marked on the map which can be found on the Beach Information Board at the entrance to the beach. It is also signposted along the sea wall at the access points onto the beach.
There are no gas barbeques allowed on the beach.
Please take your litter home.
The Nearest Public toilets is located on the promenade a 1-minute walk from Greensward Café towards the Pier. These are free to use. This does have disabled toilets and baby changing facilities available.
Directly next to this there is a changing places facility. To access this facility, please fill in the Access Key application form.
There are three food and drink outlets located off the award beach: Beach Diner, Toby Carvery and Greensward Café.
Dogs are not allowed on the award-winning beach from May to September with the exception of Guide Dogs.
The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit is located at Clacton-On-Sea. The address is Clacton & District Hospital, Tower Road, Clacton-on-Sea CO15 1LH.
