Introduction

Frinton-on-Sea is a small town located on the coast of Essex. It is known for its sandy beaches and expansive greensward that stretches along the seafront.

In addition to its beach and Greensward, Frinton-on-Sea is also home to a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops located in its high street, Connaught Avenue. Free parking can be found in the main road running along its coastline. Pre-Arrival

The local train station (Frinton-On-Sea) is a 16 minute walk from this award beach.

The nearest bus stop is located on Old Road. The post code for this is CO13 9DB. It is a 2 minute walk to the award beach.

There is a coach only drop off point located outside of the Esplanade public toilet block. Coach parking is available at Coronation Car Park in Walton-On-The-Naze.

There are several taxi firms operating in the area should you need them.

Car Parks

There are no car parks available in Frinton-On-Sea. There is ample on street parking running the length of the Esplanade. Disabled parking spaces can be found directly outside of the Esplanade public toilet block.

Access

To access the award beach there is a path located directly opposite of Connaught Avenue. This allows all beach users to make their way from the greensward onto the promenade.

Additional access is available to the promenade at the Leas and the end of Second and Third Avenue.

The access at the end of Second Avenue leads to a set of steps down to the promenade. This is not fully accessible for all beach users.

Areas Adjacent to the Beach

The promenade consists of a hard paved surface extending the length of the awards beach.

Vehicular access is only available onto the promenade between 6pm and 10am.

There are a mixture of slopes and stairs leading from the promenade to the beach.

The Beach Patrol station is located on the promenade up from the main slope and near the access down from the Connaught Avenue.

There is a seating section located next to the promenade by the access down from Connaught Avenue.

On the promenade dogs must be kept on leads and under control.

On the Beach

The award beach is located between Cambridge Road Public Toilets and the groyne past the Beach Patrol Station. There are many groynes between this to help control coastal erosion.

First aid is available from the lifeguards when operating. They operate from May Half Term to the end of the summer school holidays, during school holidays and weekends. The hours are 10:30am and 5:30pm.

This award beach is a designated dog free zone area from May to September. This is clearly marked on the map which can be found on the Beach Information Board at the entrance to the beach. It is also signposted along the sea wall at the access points onto the beach.

There are no gas barbeques allowed on the beach.

Please take your litter home.

Public Toilets

The nearest public toilet is located on the greensward opposite Connaught Avenue. There is a 20p charge for the use of these toilets. This does have disabled toilets and baby changing facilities available.

There is also a public toilet located on the promenade at the end of awards beach called Cambridge Road Public Toilets. This does have disabled toilets available.

Additionally, there are public toilets available on the greensward by the Golf club. This does not have disabled toilets or baby changing facilities.

Food and Drink Outlets

There are no food and drink outlets available along the promenade. There are many shops, restaurants and cafés along Connaught Avenue which is a short walk from the award beach.

Additional Information  

Dogs are not allowed on the award winning beach from May to September with the exception of Guide Dogs.

The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit is located at Clacton-On-Sea.  The address is Clacton & District Hospital, Tower Road, Clacton-on-Sea CO15 1LH.
