The beach by Clacton Pier is a vibrant and bustling seaside destination in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. Located right next to the iconic Clacton Pier, this popular beach offers golden sands, calm waters, and a lively atmosphere, making it perfect for families, couples, and solo travellers alike. The beach is ideal for traditional seaside activities, although swimming is not advised either side of the pier. There is added excitement of the nearby pier attractions, including amusements, rides, and eateries. With plenty of amenities close by, the beach by Clacton Pier is a hub of activity and the perfect spot to soak up the classic British seaside experience.

West Beach is located approximately a 5-minute walk from the town centre and is adjacent to Clacton Pier.
The town is served by mainline railway connections to London and Ipswich and road connections from the north (Ipswich and Colchester) via A12, A120 and A133 – CO15 1BN.
The local train station (Clacton-On-Sea) is a 13-minute walk from this beach.
The nearest bus stop is located on Marine Parade West. The post code for this is CO15 1LP. It is a 3-minute walk to the beach.
There is coach parking available in Martello Coach & Car Park.
There are several taxi firms operating in the area should you need them.
There is plenty of on street parking available along Marine Parade East and West. Please take note of parking restrictions when parking.
There are two council car parks within walking distance of the beach:
Both car parks have disabled parking spaces and motorbike parking spaces.
Carnarvon Road Car Park has electric charging spaces also.
Access to East beach for all users is by a slope, alongside the pier, that leads onto the beach. There is easy access along the promenade to the beach also via steps.
The promenade consists of a hard paved surface extending the length of the awards beach.
Vehicular access is only available onto the promenade between 6pm and 10am.
There are a mixture of slopes and stairs leading from the promenade to the beach.
The Beach Patrol Office is located on the promenade just above West beach.
On the promenade dogs must be kept on leads and under control.
The beach is located between Fishtail 1 and 2, east side of the pier.
The beach between the pier and fishtail 1 is red flagged and beach goers are advised not to swim on this beach due to dangers around the pier.
There is a red and yellowed flagged beach between fishtail 1 and 2. First aid is available from the lifeguards when operating. They operate from May Half Term to the end of the summer school holidays, during school holidays and weekends. The hours are 10:30am and 5:30pm.
There are no gas barbeques allowed on the beach.

Public toilets are located at Pier Gap. This is a 3-minute walk from the beach. There is not a disabled toilet in this toilet block.
The disabled toilet is located next to the Beach Patrol Office on the promenade. This is a 4-minute walk from the beach.
There are many food outlets available within walking distance of the beach. These include Bar 3, Martello Lounge, Clacton Pier food outlets and Clacton Pavilion.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May to September except for Guide Dogs. The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit is located at Clacton-On-Sea.
