What is Tendring District Council Emergency Planning

The Emergency Planning Team are responsible for ensuring the authority is prepared for responding to any type of major incident or emergency that may occur in the District.

We use the Integrated Emergency Management Model to direct our work:

• ‍Anticipate the risks of the district
• ‍Assess their likelihood and impact

Local Community Risk Assessment

• What prevention measures can be used‍
• Preparing for the risk. This includes:

Plan writing, review and maintenance

Training (Internal & External)

Exercising (Internal & External)

Warning and Informing

Information Sharing with other emergency responders and utilities

Co-operating with our responding partners

• ‍Responding to the incident.  This includes:

Supporting the effected community, normally be opening emergency accommodation

Supporting the emergency services

• ‍Recovery Management: This includes

Working with the affected community to return toa new normal

Clean-up and waste management

Debriefing

Reviewing plans and arrangements in light of lessons learned from an incident / emergency, and making changes where required

Our emergency response arrangements include:

• Strategic – these officers decide on what NEEDS to be achieved in the response.
• Tactical – this group of officers work out HOW we are going to deliver the response.
• Operational – these officers are on the ground DELIVERING the response.
