Community Litter Picking

community litter pickers

We welcome volunteers and community groups to get involved and take pride in where they live and enhance the appearance of our district and help us keep Tendring free of litter.

We currently have many community groups that regularly borrow our litter picking equipment.  This has resulted in 52 litter picking events taking place in 2021, 62 in 2022, and 74 taking place in 2023 so far.

If you are interested in borrowing our equipment for a litter picking event, we have a small supply of litter pickers, hoops and can provide bags and also arrange for the collection and disposal of collected waste, please contact us on 01255 686788 or email recycle@tendringdc.gov.uk

Safety whilst litter picking

Please be aware that Tendring District Council is not liable for any incidents that occur whilst community groups are litter picking.  We do advise groups not to litter pick on fast/busy roads and to always wear protective gloves whilst collecting litter and if any hazardous waste is found e.g needles please do not touch them and inform us of their location so our contractors can collect safely.

We also welcome any community groups to send us pictures of the collected waste so we can display this on our website.
