A Northern Soul artist who is performing at the Princes Theatre next month is releasing a new single this week.
Lorraine Silver, who is headliner artist at The Music of Northern Soul Live event at the Clacton venue on 5 November, releases her new single ‘Fever Raging Out of Control’ on Friday (8 October).
From the Rochester Hills label, the single will be available to download and to buy on vinyl, with the B-side track ‘The Last To Know’.
Produced by legendary Northern Soul DJ Ian Levine – who has also produced hits for Take That – the final mixes on both tracks were by Nigel Lowis, who himself has worked with stars including Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey, to name a few.
The Music of Northern Soul Live is brought to the Princes Theatre by Stefan Taylor and The Signatures, and includes a night not to be missed of hits from the era of Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca and others.
Lorraine, who turns 70 this year, released her first record in August 1965 at the age of just 13. Whilst not a chart hit her recording of ‘Lost Summer Love’ became a massive anthem at the legendary Wigan Casino and was re-issued on the Casino Classics label in the late ‘70’s - selling in excess of 30,000 copies. However, Lorraine knew nothing of her iconic Northern Soul status until the late ‘80’s.
Councillor Alex Porter, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism at Tendring District Council – which runs the Princes Theatre – said: “To have someone perform who is just releasing a single shows what talent we have on stage here; and if Northern Soul is your thing then this is a night not to be missed.”
Tickets for The Music of Northern Soul Live cost £22.50 (plus booking fees) from the Princes Theatre Box Office on 01255 686633 (Option 1) or www.princestheatre.co.uk. The show also offers cabaret style seating.
