A group of Travellers have moved off an overspill car park site in Walton after staying there for around a week.
A court summons was served on the group on Monday – after they had previously ignored a Direction to Leave the land at Bath House Meadow.
It was the same group of travellers who had previously occupied Burrs Road Playing Field in Clacton for a similar length of time.
They moved on from there after also having received a court summons.
Both of the sites are owned by Tendring District Council (TDC) who brought in the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit to take the necessary eviction action.
Paul Honeywood, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said that the information officers have been given is that the group are now leaving Tendring and returning to Grays.
“We have no reports that lead us to believe they have moved elsewhere in Tendring so hopefully they have left the District,” he added.
“They stayed on both sites for as long as they possibly could and until they received the court order.”
A number of bin bags were left at Bath House Meadow which will need to be cleared by TDC along with a foldable tent, and a large amount of green waste such as cut down trees.
The ground also has scorch marks where the Travellers built a campfire.
