A revised scheme to provide ten new homes within a village has been approved.
The outline application for land at the back of Hayes Garage in The Street, Little Clacton, was granted planning permission by Tendring District Council’s Planning Committee.
The proposal was given unanimous backing by the Members.
An earlier proposal was put forward for 21 properties but it was withdrawn following discussions with planning officers.
A second application for 11 homes was then reduced to ten to make it a more appropriate number for the site.
Susanne Ennos, TDC’s Planning Team Leader, said most of the land is outside the settlement boundary but it was considered to meet the criteria of a sustainable development.
“This location can accommodate ten dwellings without any adverse impact,” she added.
“There is a mixture of types and sizes of properties and Essex County Council as highway authority has no objection. Suitable access can be achieved.”
Little Clacton Parish Council supported the application in principle and there a small number of objections from residents.
The full details of the scheme – including access, layout, design and scale – will need to go back before TDC to be agreed.
