Pump failure forces early closure of Brightlingsea pool

Wednesday, 6 September, 2017

The end of the season for Brightlingsea open air swimming pool has had to be brought forward by one week.

The failure of the main circulation pump over the weekend means that the pool water cannot be circulated through the filters, which is a vital requirement.

The pool, which is run by Tendring District Council (TDC), saw a rise in season ticket sales this year with some sessions operating at maximum capacity.

Mick Skeels, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism said he disappointed with the loss of the last week.

“Although the weather forecast is not looking favourable for the remainder of this week, it is still very disappointing for customers and staff,” he said.

The Council is now in the process of discussing the future of the pool with Brightlingsea Town Council.
