An old poultry unit looks set to be converted into two new holiday lets.
The scheme – which includes a new access to the site – has been approved for Rectory Road in Weeley Heath.
Each of the lets will be served by a parking and turning area to the front and a small fenced sitting out area at the back.
Tendring District Council (TDC) has agreed the application after a similar proposal was agreed in 2001 but never implemented.
A TDC spokesman said: “This scheme is of benefit to tourism in Tendring, particularly through the nature of the accommodation which is being offered in a rural area.
“It will create a discreet and manageable facility with surroundings attracting those interested in outdoor pursuits such as bird watching and rambling.”
A condition has been put in to ensure that the units remain in holiday let and therefore they cannot be occupied for more than 28 days in any one stay.
Neither Essex County Council, as the highway authority, or St Osyth Parish Council opposed the plans.
No other representations were received by TDC.
