A plan to build two new properties on a grassed area between two existing homes in Little Clacton has been refused.
The outline scheme for the site in Harwich Road includes a new access to the detached three-bedroom dwellings.
Tendring District Council (TDC) decided the proposal was an unsustainable form of development outside the settlement development boundary of the village when there is already a five year supply of housing land identified.
It was felt to be harmful to the character of the semi-rural location and would result in the loss of a visual break between buildings.
Little Clacton Parish Council did not object but raised some concerns and no other letters of representation were received.
