Homes plan for livery site refused

Plans to build three new detached homes on a livery site in Ardleigh have been refused.

The outline scheme is for land at the junction of Old Ipswich Road and the underpass beneath the A12.

The 0.45 hectares is currently used for livery with a number of stables, hay store and tack room.

The site lies outside the settlement development boundary in an area where Tendring District Council (TDC) seeks to conserve and enhance the countryside.

The Council now has a five year supply of housing land and is therefore no longer under pressure to approve sustainable development. The land lies in Crockleford Heath, a smaller settlement, and one of the least sustainable in the District.

TDC decided the development is unnecessary and there are no public benefits for the proposal to be considered in an exceptional light.

Ardleigh Parish Council had no strong views on the application and there was one letter of objection and one in support.
