Frinton Greensward to host theatre productions

Wednesday, 12 April, 2017

Two free theatre productions are taking centre stage on Frinton Greensward once again this summer.

Quantum Theatre is returning to the seafront below Connaught Avenue for its own special offering of Alice through the Looking Glass followed by Great Expectations on Sunday June 4.

The company has been a regular visitor to the town over the past few years and its shows are always well-received.

Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic – adapted by Michael Whitmore - kicks-off proceedings at 2.30pm with the fantastical, fabulous and the whimsical feast for all the family.

At 7.30pm it is the turn of the Charles Dickens classic, also adapted by Michael Whitmore, set around the terrifying encounter with an escaped convict on the wild Kent marshes sparking a series of events that change the orphaned Pip’s life forever.

Tanya Ferguson, Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture, said it is all part of the Council’s efforts to provide activities and productions around the area.

“Quantum Theatre are a very well-established company and have proved popular with their outdoor productions on Frinton Greensward,” she added.

“It is a chance to get out a summer chair, perhaps a rug as it might be chilly, and enjoy a picnic while watching some dramatic theatre with family and friends.

“There are no tickets to book or pay for – just turn up and enjoy.”
