Former care home to be converted into flats

Monday, 9 January, 2017

A former residential care home in Clacton looks set to become four self-contained flats.

Tendring District Council (TDC) has approved the scheme for Universal Property Services Ltd in Church Road.

It involves a part demolition of an existing rear extension to the semi-detached property and putting doors and windows into the side elevation.

The garden will become a communal area with parking for bikes while there will be two car parking spaces and a bin store at the front.

There were no objections from Essex County Council as the highways authority and TDC considered it to be a sustainable conversion of a brownfield site.

There was one objection from a neighbour who felt that the building should remain a care home or a family home rather than flats.
