Community Energy South (CES) is supported by Essex County Council and Tendring District Council to create a Community Energy Society for the district. A Community Energy Society for Tendring District will enable local people to take positive action on climate change and create local energy saving and generation projects that put profits back into the community. Sweet Beef are a queer theatre collective who have made a show called 'I Hate it Here' which is about zero hours contract work and instability. Join them at Jaywick Martello Tower for a creative writing workshop exploring the theme of work. The workshop will take you through some drama and writing exercises which will then be used to make theatre. How We Live in Essex Through the Seasons

Step into an interdisciplinary world of poetry, sustainable textiles, illustrations, photography, performance, community collaborations, and workshops. University of Essex PhD candidate Lelia Ferro has been researching How We Live in Essex Through the Seasons since 2018 through residencies, volunteering, interviews, and community projects. This exhibition is multi-voiced and three dimensional, featuring Lelia's poems, and writing collaborations with Tendring Community Writers, Jaywick Writers, Poetry Plus Manningtree, The Writers’ Company, and local school children. The poems have been responded to by up and coming local talent including photographer Dan Sceats, illustrator Louisa Charrington, textiles artist Clare Sams, and theatre director Sofia Bagge. The exhibition explores themes of heritage, locality, nature, and climate change. A programme of free events and workshops is open to all throughout the duration of the exhibition. They include, performances, a spoken word workshop with professional performers, an open mic evening, a coastal botanical illustrations workshop with Louisa, a sea and sky photography workshop with Dan, a netting and knotting plant fibres workshop with Clare, and local seasonal poetry workshops with Lelia. Party on the Pitch at Clacton Town Football club on Sunday 9th June from 2pm until 10pm. Family friendly event with live music performances all day from solo artists to groups - showcasing talented local musicians performing a mixture of original music as well as covers. So grab your festival chairs and blankets and come join the party. There will also be some fun FREE football skills sessions for children as well as bouncy castle, face painting, ice cream van, food, drink and craft stalls. A fun relaxing afternoon for all the family. Gates open at 1:30 - entertainment starts at 2pm and finishes at 10pm. Please have your tickets available for inspection at the entry gate.
